You are now in chat room “sotsw.”
Thematrian1 (8:37:42 PM): fair enough. The major activity from last time was muttering "the FRAG?" at one another IIRC
Umbrafer (8:38:12 PM): More or less.
MilesMk1 (8:39:51 PM): That sounds about right.
Thematrian1 (8:40:30 PM): many contacts had been, well, contacted, and everyone was displaying a consistent level of respect for the "rampaging wiz gang" hypothesis
Umbrafer (8:40:55 PM): Though Peter had told us that the insects were real. Did the newscaster lady ever get eaten?
Thematrian1 (8:41:18 PM): not that you saw.
MilesMk1 (8:41:24 PM): Who's peter? Oh, rock. Aren't classical languages fun.
Thematrian1 (8:41:47 PM): really, really classical. And yeah
Umbrafer (8:42:28 PM): Oops
Umbrafer (8:42:39 PM): Yeah, Rock. We don't know that other name
Thematrian1 (8:43:30 PM): Indeed.
MilesMk1 (8:43:44 PM): I wish Dragcrell was here, considering it was Trickster who got us into this...
Umbrafer (8:43:47 PM): I build a church on top of him.
Thematrian1 (8:44:20 PM): That's been tried.
Thematrian1 (8:44:26 PM): But yes, Trickster. Forgot about him.
MilesMk1 (8:45:10 PM): I think we actually moved past saying "whoa" to investigating his missing friend... or some missing woman, anyway.
Umbrafer (8:45:35 PM): We did. Turned up little.
MilesMk1 (8:45:54 PM): Then Rock spotted a spirit tailing us on behalf of someone, and we were trying to decide whether to get violent.
Umbrafer (8:45:56 PM): Found out she'd been fired, contacted her would-be boyfriend… whatever came of that?
Umbrafer (8:45:57 PM): Yes
Thematrian1 (8:46:00 PM): determined that she'd been missing for four days, she had a boyfriendish interested in UB
Umbrafer (8:46:10 PM): Indeed
MilesMk1 (8:46:45 PM): Not vs. the spirit, which was co-opted by Rock, but against the summoner of it - because the spirit kindly offered to lead us back to him.
Thematrian1 (8:46:54 PM): There was another fellow, whom she wasn't especially interested in.
MilesMk1 (8:46:57 PM): Or into a trap, one of the two.
Thematrian1 (8:47:01 PM): Indeed, indeed
Thematrian1 (8:47:07 PM): But you hadn't decided which
MilesMk1 (8:47:25 PM): That other fellow seemed very concerned, but didn't know anything, IIRC. Why do women always pick assholes?
Thematrian1 (8:47:58 PM): The answer you arrived at last time was "evil influence", FWIW
Umbrafer (8:47:59 PM): sudo chown rock spirit
Umbrafer (8:48:04 PM): Indeed
MilesMk1 (8:48:15 PM): sudo chown?
Umbrafer (8:48:27 PM): Unix jokes, don't mind me.
Umbrafer (8:48:36 PM): (The "change owner" command)
Thematrian1 (8:48:42 PM): sudo = "run next command...in some way, I forget the details." chown = "assign ownsership of x to y"
MilesMk1 (8:48:49 PM): Ah.
Umbrafer (8:48:54 PM): (Run next command as root)
Thematrian1 (8:49:01 PM): (Ah, thank you)
MilesMk1 (8:49:40 PM): I think shooting people who summon spirits to follow us is a Good Thing, but Blake has a sudden and unexplained aversion to dealing with hostile magicians unless absolutely necessary.
Umbrafer (8:49:41 PM): And, oddly enough, it's assign ownership of y to x. Anyway. IIRC the "nice fellow" was also a little on the desperate side.
MilesMk1 (8:50:01 PM): True, true... Desperation is rarely attractive.
Thematrian1 (8:51:58 PM): Mmph. I think that to continue, we need one of Trickster and Rock
Umbrafer (8:52:20 PM): Hm. Sine qua non?
Umbrafer (8:52:30 PM): Hopefully Dragcrell will show.
Thematrian1 (8:53:01 PM): I mean, you could go visit the Mystery Mage without any form of astral support
Thematrian1 (8:53:09 PM): I certainly wouldn't prevent you
Umbrafer (8:53:45 PM): It all depends what we want from the mystery mage.
MilesMk1 (8:53:54 PM): We've done that before, and more than one mage at once, but we were getting paid 150,000 for it...
Umbrafer (8:53:57 PM): If we actually want info from him, yeah, we'd do better with support.
Umbrafer (8:54:08 PM): If we just want to kill him, as you point out, we've done it before…
MilesMk1 (8:54:28 PM): For free... Well, for free, I'll think angry thoughts in his direction.
Umbrafer (8:54:33 PM): :D
Umbrafer (8:54:38 PM): *Adds to the angry thoughts*
Umbrafer (8:55:29 PM): The other question is do we have anything we could do that doesn't involve mystery-mage but also does not involve forgoing that path. The answer is probably no, but such is life.
MilesMk1 (8:55:54 PM): We could go see first hand if that newswoman gets eaten, but that might be pushing it.
MilesMk1 (8:56:21 PM): I'm not sure my character would actually think that's a good idea, even if I might.
Umbrafer (8:59:51 PM): Here's the question, I suppose:
Umbrafer (9:00:26 PM): If time passes and Dragcrell doesn't show, do we call or do we go up against Mystery Mage without support and take our chances (and potentially knocks)?
MilesMk1 (9:02:09 PM): I'd like to play, but on the other hand, given how long we've waited, one more delay wouldn't kill me... And I'd hate to get Blake killed doing this thing half-assed after all we made it through.
Umbrafer (9:02:22 PM): So very true.
Umbrafer (9:02:46 PM): We could see if we could get our hands on a mortar and just shell the mage from three kilometers out
MilesMk1 (9:03:20 PM): Hehe... Not without laser-guided shells... Or nuclear ones. :)
Thematrian1 (9:03:36 PM): or drone spotting, but I don't think stratos can manage that
MilesMk1 (9:03:56 PM): Yay.
Umbrafer (9:04:05 PM): Victory!
MilesMk1 (9:04:16 PM): Dragcrell has arrived.
Umbrafer (9:04:19 PM): We shell the mage with Tricksters instead.
Dragcrell has entered the chat room.

Thematrian1 (9:05:38 PM): Rock has drawn into himself; once or twice you see his lips move but he's not paying close attention to his surroundings.
Thematrian1 (9:05:42 PM): Rest of the world?
Dragcrell (9:05:44 PM): *poke*
Thematrian1 (9:05:53 PM): heh, hi
Thematrian1 (9:06:00 PM): I'm done with exams so we can have games again
Dragcrell (9:06:05 PM): ((I miss much)
Dragcrell (9:06:45 PM): *thinks* we'er light one yet I think
Umbrafer (9:07:04 PM): (And will be for tonight. Multivariable calc has consumed him)
Dragcrell (9:07:55 PM): (ahhh ok)
Umbrafer (9:08:48 PM): (But no, I don't think you missed much)
Thematrian1 (9:09:10 PM): (A bunch of recapping, mostly)
Dragcrell (9:09:56 PM): (cool :3)
Umbrafer (9:10:00 PM): "Last time, on Shadows of the Sixth World: Chicago, our anti-heroes were preparing to valiantly kill someone who was messing with them"
MilesMk1 (9:10:47 PM): I will valiantly burn his face off.
Thematrian1 (9:11:07 PM): that's the best way to burn faces
Umbrafer (9:11:27 PM): With luck we'll be able to take the easy way, though I do think we now have a trademark way of dealing with people who truly slot us off.
Umbrafer (9:11:49 PM): (One of the few pieces of SR slang that I really like, I think. Not sure why.)
Thematrian1 (9:11:52 PM): oh goodie
MilesMk1 (9:12:10 PM): So, yes, we were trying to decide what to do about the magician who set a spirit to follow us. We're agreed we don't like that kind of thing, but not sure how to respond. What are Trickster's thoughts on this matter?
Thematrian1 (9:12:15 PM): You can be the Thermite three
Umbrafer (9:12:19 PM): Were you looking forward to being free of thermite dentists? ;)
Dragcrell (9:12:43 PM): (ROFL)
MilesMk1 (9:13:03 PM): BTW, I am still considering actually getting those thermite-stakes made. :p
Umbrafer (9:13:21 PM): It only seems sensible
Dragcrell (9:13:34 PM): *thinks* "All I know is that the wasp/human thaing was takeing a keen intrest in me that can never be good."
Umbrafer (9:13:50 PM): "Probably not."
Dragcrell (9:13:52 PM): (give them a nasty case of hart burn eh)
MilesMk1 (9:14:15 PM): (Something like that.)
Dragcrell (9:14:48 PM): (gah Heart burn)
Thematrian1 (9:15:17 PM): (indeed)
Thematrian1 (9:15:30 PM): So: aimlessly driving about near-ish Alex's place IIRC?
Dragcrell (9:15:36 PM): "If the huge bugs are real as well they might have something to do with it or know something about them"
Umbrafer (9:15:40 PM): Pretty much, yes.
Umbrafer (9:16:59 PM): Is there anything going on right now around us?
Thematrian1 (9:17:30 PM): Nothing of the giant-insect variety, no. You see a few pedestrians, but they seem innocent and carefree
Thematrian1 (9:17:43 PM): speaking of which, Trickster: roll perception
Dragcrell (9:17:59 PM): Dragcrell rolled 7 6-sided dice: 4 6 6 1 2 2 6
Dragcrell (9:18:13 PM): Dragcrell rolled 3 6-sided dice: 1 6 4
Dragcrell (9:18:21 PM): /roll-dice 1
Dragcrell (9:18:28 PM): Dragcrell rolled 1 6-sided die: 6
Dragcrell (9:18:40 PM): Dragcrell rolled 1 6-sided die: 6
Dragcrell (9:18:50 PM): (think this one busted)
Dragcrell (9:18:56 PM): Dragcrell rolled 1 6-sided die: 6
Dragcrell (9:19:18 PM): (>_> ok I'm stoping that to creepy)
Umbrafer (9:19:23 PM): (Keep going!)
Dragcrell (9:19:34 PM): Dragcrell rolled 1 6-sided die: 6
Thematrian1 (9:19:39 PM): (Don't stop now, you've got a shot at the rec...eh...)
Dragcrell (9:19:47 PM): Dragcrell rolled 1 6-sided die: 6
Thematrian1 (9:19:51 PM): (Why is it that rolls top out at 20ish or reach into the 40s?)
Dragcrell (9:20:00 PM): Dragcrell rolled 1 6-sided die: 3
Umbrafer (9:20:05 PM): 45.
Thematrian1 (9:20:10 PM): (there's a whole range of the distribution that we just never see)
Dragcrell (9:20:12 PM): (O_o dame about time)
Umbrafer (9:20:18 PM): That's… definitely a new record.
Thematrian1 (9:20:43 PM): anyway
Umbrafer (9:20:49 PM): (Usually they top out in the 30s. IIRC this is the only one to exceed 40)
Umbrafer (9:20:52 PM): *Notices that the fox seems remarkably perceptive today*
Thematrian1 (9:21:32 PM): There's a spirit with a pointy face peering through the roof at the spirit that Rock enscorcelled.
Dragcrell (9:22:04 PM): "Ummm guys the eye ball has company"
Umbrafer (9:22:20 PM): "What is it doing?"
Umbrafer (9:22:23 PM): "What kind?"
Thematrian1 (9:22:29 PM): Thematrian1 rolled 15 6-sided dice: 3 3 6 6 6 5 3 5 3 5 1 1 4 6 1
MilesMk1 (9:23:02 PM): *wildly looks around*
Dragcrell (9:24:02 PM): Dragcrell rolled 7 6-sided dice: 5 1 3 4 1 5 5
MilesMk1 (9:24:03 PM): "Where, and can you do anything about it?"
Dragcrell (9:24:38 PM): *points at a spot in the roof wher the spirt is at* "not shour if I can do much"
Dragcrell (9:25:59 PM): "it seems to be intested in the Watcher your firiend captured as to the type its a city spirit."
MilesMk1 (9:26:52 PM): *speaking to the roof* "Please tell whoever you work for that if he just wants to talk to us, he'd better make it clear real soon, because we value our privacy."
Thematrian1 (9:27:19 PM): The roof does not reply
MilesMk1 (9:27:46 PM): *to Trickster* "Did it look like it heard me?"
Dragcrell (9:28:09 PM): "if it did it didn't react at all
Umbrafer (9:28:14 PM): "Can you bite its head off or something?"
Dragcrell (9:29:01 PM): "Excuse me city spirt is there someing you want or need?"
Dragcrell (9:31:02 PM): *backs up a bit* "Ummm ok it dont seam to be in a chaty mood as to fighting it I could try but freck all it has to do is pull up out of the van and I can't touch it.'
Umbrafer (9:31:50 PM): "But it would be out of the van."
Dragcrell (9:32:02 PM): *thinks* "what is it you whant with the watcher?" tences up to fend off a attack
MilesMk1 (9:32:37 PM): "Can we go somewhere it'd not follow us into?"
Dragcrell (9:33:20 PM): "I'm not shoure it seems very intrsted in the watcher for some resion.'
Thematrian1 (9:33:46 PM): Thematrian1 rolled 15 6-sided dice: 5 2 3 4 3 6 3 4 2 1 4 6 5 3 5
Dragcrell (9:34:22 PM): "What is it you want with the watcher" (and tiem to but the ass on the line) *pokes the area the sprit is at* >_<
Umbrafer (9:34:23 PM): (What's the TN for a Magic Background roll to figure out generally how wards operatE?
Umbrafer (9:34:24 PM): *e
Umbrafer (9:34:26 PM): *)
Thematrian1 (9:34:40 PM): hm. 2
Umbrafer (9:34:56 PM): Umbrafer rolled 2 6-sided dice: 6 6
Umbrafer (9:34:59 PM): Umbrafer rolled 2 6-sided dice: 1 4
Thematrian1 (9:35:21 PM): There are these things called Wards, that work for spirits like walls do for normal things
Umbrafer (9:36:13 PM): "I think if we went someplace the spirit couldn't follow the watcher'd have to stay outside too. And maybe Trickster, remember the black clinic?" (Scratch that last part if Trickster didn't eventually explain why he refused to go in
Umbrafer (9:36:21 PM): *to go inside much, but I think he did)
Dragcrell (9:37:06 PM): (ya I did in a roudn about way)
MilesMk1 (9:37:49 PM): "I've got a shaman friend, but after I got her to look at that black clinic, she was pretty freaked out by the whole thing... I don't think I really want to involve her in this."
Dragcrell (9:38:39 PM): "I not shoure it want to hurt us I think its just facinated by the watcher for some resion"
MilesMk1 (9:39:09 PM): "Oh. Great. A spectator..."
Umbrafer (9:39:12 PM): "I'm worried that that reason is whatever sent the watcher in the first place"
Dragcrell (9:39:58 PM): "mmm I know that has me worryed as well but as...............it just left"
Umbrafer (9:40:25 PM): "…"
MilesMk1 (9:40:39 PM): "It did? Can you see where it went?"
Dragcrell (9:40:52 PM): Dragcrell rolled 7 6-sided dice: 2 5 1 1 5 6 1
Dragcrell (9:41:02 PM): Dragcrell rolled 1 6-sided die: 5
Dragcrell (9:42:56 PM): "Ya it headed North and east to a hight class area" *looks at the others* "think it might be a budy of the watchers master?"
MilesMk1 (9:44:44 PM): "Your guess is as good as mine... Hey, Rock, can you ask your spirit buddy where his master is in relation to us?"
Umbrafer (9:44:57 PM): *Turns to follow the heading given*
Umbrafer (9:45:04 PM): "Do we follow it?"
MilesMk1 (9:45:30 PM): "Sure, as long as Trickster can keep track of it."
Thematrian1 (9:45:59 PM): Rock comes out of his abstraction for a moment. "It says it 'just knows' how to find him."
Dragcrell (9:46:23 PM): *shutters* "I can do my best" moves to the front of the van to try and keep track of the spirt* "being rat with bat wings shoulnt be to hard to see"
Dragcrell (9:48:17 PM): Dragcrell rolled 7 6-sided dice: 4 4 5 3 2 4 3
MilesMk1 (9:48:20 PM): "Well, can you ask him to tell us if we're getting closer or farther away from his master now?"
Thematrian1 (9:50:50 PM): Rock mutters to the air for a minute.
Dragcrell has left the chat room.

Umbrafer (9:51:59 PM): (Damn goats)
Thematrian1 (9:52:01 PM): "It says closer, but it didn't really understand the question."
Thematrian1 (9:52:19 PM): (I'm told that shepherd's pie is delicious, when made with goat)
Dragcrell has left the chat room.

MilesMk1 (9:53:32 PM): How did he leave the room without entering it first?
Umbrafer (9:53:43 PM): No clue.
MilesMk1 (9:53:50 PM): I tried inviting him, did anyone else?
Umbrafer (9:53:54 PM): I did as well
Dragcrell has entered the chat room.

Dragcrell (9:54:35 PM): (walks back in grumbleing)
Dragcrell (9:55:09 PM): (well that was fun >_>)
Umbrafer (9:55:10 PM): (Not more snow, I hope)
Dragcrell (9:55:28 PM): (no the comp froze up on me for some resion)
Dragcrell (9:57:50 PM): "ok it just vanished in to the wall on the left"
Umbrafer (9:59:39 PM): *SCREEECH*
Umbrafer (9:59:44 PM): Pulling up somewhere.
Thematrian1 (9:59:48 PM): You come to a stop.
Thematrian1 (10:00:07 PM): You're still in a C-ish area of town. Fairly safe, but not fancy at all
Umbrafer (10:00:55 PM): What is the building?
Thematrian1 (10:02:46 PM): looks house-y. Set of stone steps with a metal railing, leading up to a plastic door.
Dragcrell (10:03:07 PM): Dragcrell rolled 7 6-sided dice: 5 2 3 4 4 4 3
MilesMk1 (10:04:59 PM): "I suppose it could have just passed through it, right?"
Dragcrell (10:05:05 PM): "So should we try knocking or......"
Umbrafer (10:05:07 PM): "Could have."
MilesMk1 (10:05:16 PM): "I wish I knew if these things are bright enough to shake pursuit like that..."
Dragcrell (10:05:31 PM): *nods* "mmmmmm"
Dragcrell (10:07:36 PM): "mmm I'm not posive on just how strong of a sprit it was but theres a chance this is where it was heading."
Umbrafer (10:08:12 PM): Umbrafer rolled 2 6-sided dice: 2 6
Umbrafer (10:08:16 PM): Umbrafer rolled 1 6-sided die: 5
Umbrafer (10:08:24 PM): "What does how strong it is have to do with that?"
Dragcrell (10:09:11 PM): "The stronger in power the spirt the smarter it is"
Thematrian1 (10:09:14 PM): (Stronger ones are smarter, maybe?)
Umbrafer (10:09:59 PM): (I know that. Alex doesn't.)
Umbrafer (10:10:11 PM): "Oh. Hm."
Thematrian1 (10:10:28 PM): (That was my proposed response to your Magical Background roll. Assuming that that's what that was)
Umbrafer (10:11:10 PM): (Ah, oops. That's what it was, but I was harsher on my self-imposed TN. Fair enough, then)
Dragcrell (10:11:35 PM): "How ever the if the building was a hearth domain he shouldn't have been abel to enter it. Ether way I think we lost its trail"
Thematrian1 (10:11:37 PM): (harsher than 11? Good grief)
Umbrafer (10:12:09 PM): (Harsher in terms of requiring multiple successes for meaningful knowledge)
MilesMk1 (10:12:12 PM): "Well, we could always deploy a recon drone, see if there's anything mundane of interest, right?"
Thematrian1 (10:12:49 PM): (Lots of successes would give you what I gave Trickster ;-))
Dragcrell (10:12:53 PM): *nods* "what your friend have to say with the watcher we close to its master?"
Umbrafer (10:13:02 PM): "Got it.* As I remember it's still daylight, so Kimji away!
Thematrian1 (10:13:29 PM): whirrrr zipzipzipzipzip
MilesMk1 (10:13:36 PM): "Good point. Rock, can you try to see if we're close to the eyeball
Dragcrell (10:13:39 PM): (hehehehe)
MilesMk1 (10:13:41 PM): 's master?"
Thematrian1 (10:14:03 PM): ::mutter mutter mutter::
Thematrian1 (10:14:56 PM): What's the Kimji doing?
Umbrafer (10:15:39 PM): Fluttering down under the van, along the ground, and over to a non-street-facing wall of the house, if one exists.
Thematrian1 (10:16:07 PM): One does, though it's only a few inches from the non-street-facing wall of the next house
Umbrafer (10:16:38 PM): Thats plenty of room to a Kimji. Over to it, up between in, and then around to just over the roof. What does the place look like?
Thematrian1 (10:17:20 PM): In a word, generic. Probably designed after the crash, New Levittown or a knockoff
Thematrian1 (10:18:07 PM): No chimney, though there's a vent for the air conditioning
Umbrafer (10:18:50 PM): *Back in the van, Alex's mostly-slack body starts vaguely humming "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"*
Umbrafer (10:19:05 PM): Flitting about, looking for any openings or signs of life.
Dragcrell (10:19:20 PM): *Turns head to one side a quisacle look on his face*
Thematrian1 (10:20:36 PM): There are two street-facing windows, thoroughly tinted. Roll Passive Sensors
MilesMk1 (10:20:42 PM): (quizzical?)
Thematrian1 (10:20:49 PM): (Yep)
Umbrafer (10:21:04 PM): Umbrafer rolled 8 6-sided dice: 2 2 2 4 5 6 2 2
Umbrafer (10:21:09 PM): Umbrafer rolled 1 6-sided die: 6
Umbrafer (10:21:12 PM): Umbrafer rolled 1 6-sided die: 5
Umbrafer (10:21:22 PM): (Honestly, there's just no middle ground)
Dragcrell (10:21:47 PM): (lol ya I burn all my luck on that first roll ; ;)
MilesMk1 (10:22:03 PM): (8 dice for passive sensors?)
MilesMk1 (10:22:08 PM): (man)
Umbrafer (10:22:18 PM): (I kicked my Int by a point, remember?)
Dragcrell (10:22:52 PM): (and its only a small drone as well lol cant have that much crambed in to it)
Umbrafer (10:23:18 PM): (It's passive, it's my brain-meats doing the work. Active sensors I've still got one lonely die in.)
Thematrian1 (10:23:36 PM): heh, give me one of those too
MilesMk1 (10:23:37 PM): (Oh... Right. Never mind me.)
Dragcrell (10:23:46 PM): (lol)
Umbrafer (10:24:01 PM): Umbrafer rolled 1 6-sided die: 3
Thematrian1 (10:24:38 PM): No signs of life. Many signs of pressed petrochemical products.
Umbrafer (10:26:19 PM): Explicate?
Thematrian1 (10:26:30 PM): plastic
Umbrafer (10:26:34 PM): Ah
Umbrafer (10:26:48 PM): Hm. What varieties? Or do you mean the windows?
Thematrian1 (10:27:08 PM): I mean the walls. Probably it came in a variety of attractive designer colors, but the folks who bought it went with brown
Umbrafer (10:27:17 PM): Ah
Umbrafer (10:27:35 PM): #These people have terrible taste. And will you just look at that trim!#
Dragcrell (10:27:57 PM): (lol)
Umbrafer (10:28:05 PM): Anything around the back, or windows facing the tiny nook betwixt buildings?
Thematrian1 (10:28:14 PM): There are two windows on the streets, tinted to hell and back
Thematrian1 (10:28:40 PM): that's it window-wise. The back wall (relative to the van) faces another building over a few feet of back sidewalk
Umbrafer (10:29:44 PM): #I've got nothing.#
Dragcrell (10:31:09 PM): "think we shoudl check it out in person?"
Umbrafer (10:32:12 PM): *Returns the Kimji to the van by a similar route to the one it left on* "Up to you."
Dragcrell (10:33:07 PM): "mmm any thaing low to the ground that say a small dog coudl enter with out to much notes?"
Umbrafer (10:33:23 PM): Did I see anything of that description?
Thematrian1 (10:34:15 PM): Thematrian1 rolled 15 6-sided dice: 4 5 6 4 1 2 6 4 6 5 6 2 5 4 6
Thematrian1 (10:34:17 PM): no
Dragcrell (10:34:58 PM): "Any thaing from Rock?"
Thematrian1 (10:35:13 PM): Rock is seemingly off in a world of his own
Dragcrell (10:37:02 PM): "Well we coudl try knocking on the door and see what happens or we can follow the only solid trail we have and see where the watcher came from/"
Thematrian1 (10:38:15 PM): Thoughts, plots?
Umbrafer (10:39:08 PM): (*Tries to resurrect Matt*)
Dragcrell (10:39:15 PM): (you guys there?)
Thematrian1 (10:40:13 PM): The choice seems to be "knock on the door or no".
Umbrafer (10:40:16 PM): "We've got no info on this place… if you want to go up and knock on the door and try asking for directions to someplace go ahead, but I'm not sure how much else we can do."
Dragcrell (10:40:53 PM): *nods* "that leaves following the watcher then"
MilesMk1 (10:41:22 PM): Sorry, how long have you guys been poking me?
MilesMk1 (10:41:23 PM): ;)
Umbrafer (10:41:48 PM): (Only a few minutes)
MilesMk1 (10:42:25 PM): "I'm pretty good at breaking into places, but not all that stealthy."
MilesMk1 (10:43:06 PM): "We can always flag this place for a later checkup and see where the watcher takes us. For all we know, this might be it."
Umbrafer (10:43:22 PM): (We really are a heavy assault runner team after all.)
Umbrafer (10:43:26 PM): "Sounds good."
Thematrian1 (10:44:13 PM): (Yeah, I should send you guys into the Yucatan or something)
Dragcrell (10:44:37 PM): "ok with me I'll keep a look out for the sprirt just in case it come back."
Umbrafer (10:44:43 PM): (That's more or less what Bug City does)
Dragcrell (10:44:45 PM): (X_x no thanks)
Dragcrell (10:45:12 PM): ( I like Trister in the one piece he is in as of now :3)
Umbrafer (10:45:26 PM): (His pieces grow back together)
Thematrian1 (10:45:46 PM): (Bug City: bringing the Yucatan to your doorstep!)
MilesMk1 (10:45:48 PM): (Bug City sends people into the Yucatan?)
Dragcrell (10:45:54 PM): (ya but I wouldnt like to test that out just yet)
Dragcrell (10:46:09 PM): (got to remver I'm no woverine)
Umbrafer (10:46:32 PM): (Not the Yucatan per se, but it decreases the necessity of stealth)
MilesMk1 (10:46:52 PM): (Oh. I was wondering why we were going to go to Mexico)
MilesMk1 (10:47:29 PM): (Although... Is Cancun still a tourist destination? What time is spring break?)
Umbrafer (10:47:44 PM): (Next year. We're in what, late August?)
Dragcrell (10:47:48 PM): (snickers)
Thematrian1 (10:47:58 PM): August 22, around 4:30 IIRC
MilesMk1 (10:48:01 PM): (Right. Damn.)
MilesMk1 (10:48:27 PM): "All right, so is everyone ok with having Rock ask the eyeball to take us to its master?"
Umbrafer (10:48:37 PM): (Maybe we could winter in Australia with the Bunyips and the Mana Storms)
Umbrafer (10:48:40 PM): "Make it so."
MilesMk1 (10:48:46 PM): "Preferably somehwere close to its master, but not directly there?"
MilesMk1 (10:48:50 PM): *makes it so*
Umbrafer (10:50:43 PM): *Makes it so in meatspace when directions are available*
Dragcrell (10:50:59 PM): (lol)
Thematrian1 (10:51:20 PM): Rock and empty air go into a huddle
Umbrafer (10:53:24 PM): *Watches the huddle observantly*
Thematrian1 (10:53:42 PM): Eventually, Rock and empty air settle for giving you a direction, basically using the spirit as a compass.
Umbrafer (10:54:16 PM): *Attempts to head in said direction while still obeying traffic laws*
Thematrian1 (10:57:05 PM): Fifteen minutes pass. There's a lot of traffic, and you're not making good time
Dragcrell (10:57:09 PM): *sits in the back keeping a eye out for visitets the others might be intrested in
Umbrafer (10:57:31 PM): *Resists the urge to break out the MMG*
Dragcrell (10:57:43 PM): (gah and my spelling sucks to night >_<)
Thematrian1 (10:58:56 PM): Kimji is back in, right?
Umbrafer (10:59:02 PM): Yea.
Thematrian1 (10:59:05 PM): k
MilesMk1 (10:59:14 PM): (Is traffic always this bad, or is that "obeying traffic laws" part the problem this time?):)
Thematrian1 (10:59:38 PM): (Neither. Traffic isn't usually this serious, and you guys aren't usually traveling at 4:30 on a weekday)
Umbrafer (11:00:06 PM): (On that topic, checking the news.)
MilesMk1 (11:01:43 PM): (Damn those wiz-gangs!)
Thematrian1 (11:01:45 PM): Knight Errant still isn't commenting.
Umbrafer (11:02:07 PM): Anything by Eagle Security?
Thematrian1 (11:02:09 PM): The talking heads agree that wiz-gangs are probably responsible. Some interviewee is talking about a new HMVV (!!!)
Umbrafer (11:02:18 PM): !!!
Thematrian1 (11:02:23 PM): If Eagle Security had been in charge, this wouldn't have happened.
Thematrian1 (11:02:27 PM): That's their statement.
Umbrafer (11:02:33 PM): :D
Dragcrell (11:02:36 PM): (lol)
Thematrian1 (11:02:47 PM): (or is it HMMVV? HMMV? Humvee?)
Umbrafer (11:02:52 PM): (HMHVV)
Thematrian1 (11:03:00 PM): (oh, thanks)
Umbrafer (11:03:14 PM): (Human-MetaHuman Vampiracy Virus)
Thematrian1 (11:03:33 PM): Experts seem to agree that it's not that. Or so the talking head tells you.
Umbrafer (11:04:12 PM): "I dunno, it could be this HMV stuff."
Umbrafer (11:04:23 PM): (No, Alex doesn't really say that.)
Dragcrell has left the chat room.

MilesMk1 (11:05:45 PM): Goats, you will rue this day!
Dragcrell has entered the chat room.

Dragcrell (11:07:18 PM): (grabs the MMS and points it at his comp)
Thematrian1 (11:07:29 PM): You drive some more. The time is 5:14. It's getting boring and hot, but then Rock speaks up.
Thematrian1 (11:07:43 PM): "It says, 'with them'"
Thematrian1 (11:07:56 PM): And he points to a big glass building, which Trickster recognizes.
Thematrian1 (11:08:17 PM): "Universal Brotherhood" is written in large, friendly letters on the face of the building.
Dragcrell (11:08:27 PM): "oooooooo shit fuck"
Umbrafer (11:09:38 PM): |=|_|><><0|2.
MilesMk1 (11:09:41 PM): "Well. So much for walking in there and shooting someone, I'd say."
MilesMk1 (11:10:02 PM): (What's that in Human? :p)
Thematrian1 (11:10:18 PM): 'fuck'
Thematrian1 (11:10:28 PM): (Er, 'fuck')
Dragcrell (11:10:43 PM): "I'm not going back in there I had a hell of time get out as is" *huddles in the back*
Umbrafer (11:10:47 PM): (Always good to have a translator handy :) )
MilesMk1 (11:11:01 PM): "So, that's where you were? Inside that building?"
Thematrian1 (11:11:02 PM): (|= F |_| u >< x >< x 0 o |2 r)
Dragcrell (11:11:22 PM): *nods*
Umbrafer (11:11:48 PM): "So, do we have a word with the fine gentlemen and ladies inside about their interest in the affairs of our associate?"
MilesMk1 (11:11:53 PM): (BTW, Jon, I'm finding your posts on Dumpshock about the logic and professionalism of selling out team members when it's useful to do so rather disturbing. :))
Dragcrell (11:12:13 PM): (>_>..........................)
Umbrafer (11:12:25 PM): ( :D )
MilesMk1 (11:12:45 PM): "I guess it depends on whether we think they know so much about us already that knocking on their door won't make things any worse."
Umbrafer (11:13:02 PM): (Just remember, I don't always practice what I preach. More importantly, perhaps, what does the Universal Brotherhood have that Alex wants?)
MilesMk1 (11:13:37 PM): (I meant that more generally)
Thematrian1 (11:13:40 PM): (A lack of death by wasp. But yeah)
Umbrafer (11:13:57 PM): (Hehehe)
Dragcrell (11:14:26 PM): (heheheheehe)
Umbrafer (11:14:33 PM): (What can I say, I'm… what is it they like to bandy about? "Gritty"? Maybe even "street-level"? ;) )
MilesMk1 (11:14:42 PM): "It's not like they'll let us go to whatever wasp-aurad magicians they have in the back anyway, which means beating our way in, which means we end up on the news."
Dragcrell (11:14:43 PM): "You guys can go in if you want I'm stay here where its safe"
MilesMk1 (11:15:05 PM): (aured? auaraed?)
Umbrafer (11:15:15 PM): (Auraed, I think)
Umbrafer (11:15:38 PM): "We could always stake the place out. Though the news seems busy enough." Anything new on it?
Thematrian1 (11:16:09 PM): (I think you need a hyphen there; I vaguely remember a rule against adding -ed directly when it would produce the 'ae' combination)
Thematrian1 (11:16:29 PM): An expose on some particular brand of soyburger
Thematrian1 (11:16:36 PM): Paid for in part by another brand of soyburger
Dragcrell (11:16:43 PM): (or its Aurad)
Thematrian1 (11:16:59 PM): (Aura'd would work, for sure...)
Umbrafer (11:17:14 PM): (If you're being strict about it it won't cause confusion with a diphthong, as the diphthong should rightly be a separate character entirely (æ))
Thematrian1 (11:17:22 PM): Actually, wait, who has hearing amplification?
Umbrafer (11:17:38 PM): I've got the van sensors I'm jacked through
MilesMk1 (11:17:41 PM): "I think it's interesting that we now have two different - presumably - people sending spirits after us. Unless that was just some busybody awakaned having his spirits snoop around and come on us by accident."
MilesMk1 (11:18:02 PM): "I bet between the shifter, the mage and the captive spirit we must look interesting to any mage."
Dragcrell (11:18:06 PM): (not trick unless he has it form being a fox)
MilesMk1 (11:18:10 PM): any other mage
Thematrian1 (11:18:27 PM): (He doesn't)
MilesMk1 (11:18:47 PM): (Glitch is the only person in both games, IIRC)
Thematrian1 (11:18:55 PM): Ok, only people with hearing amplification learn the "Paid for in part..." thing
Umbrafer (11:19:10 PM): Hehehe
Thematrian1 (11:19:11 PM): (Er?)
Umbrafer (11:19:24 PM): Since I'm probably listening to it via transducer, do I hear it?
Umbrafer (11:19:27 PM): (Er?)
Dragcrell (11:19:50 PM): (wich is odd condidering you would think he would at lest have the applity to hear the higher piched sounds being a canine and all)
Thematrian1 (11:19:54 PM): I'll say not.
Umbrafer (11:20:05 PM): (Ah well.)
Thematrian1 (11:20:15 PM): (In your natural form, you have high-frequency hearing. In your transformed human form, not so much)
Dragcrell (11:20:29 PM): (dang it)
MilesMk1 (11:20:58 PM): (Heh... Coming to the theater near you: "Blake buys a dog whistle." ;))
Umbrafer (11:21:09 PM): (*Laughs*)
Dragcrell (11:21:13 PM): (you wound't dare)
Dragcrell (11:21:45 PM): (well just rember that next time you find your cloths soked in fox piss)
MilesMk1 (11:22:07 PM): (And just how are you going to get into my place?:p)
Umbrafer (11:22:16 PM): (If either of you get either blood or fox urine in my van…)
Dragcrell (11:22:50 PM): (who said you woudnt be wareing them at the time of he "accedent")
MilesMk1 (11:22:58 PM): All right, I know I at least am losing focus fast... :)
Thematrian1 (11:23:01 PM): (time to finally mount those inward-facing machine guns, Alex?)
Thematrian1 (11:23:23 PM): Well, it sounds like no one wants to bust in to the building full of peace-loving hippies tonight.
Dragcrell (11:23:31 PM): (ya but they woudl just make a bigger mess ;3
MilesMk1 (11:23:33 PM): Shall we get back to blowing up the UB next week, then?
Umbrafer (11:23:35 PM): (The Stratos serve well enough. If someone's too close, I can always start the rotors and make puree.)
Dragcrell (11:23:52 PM): Dragcrell rolled 7 6-sided dice: 2 5 4 2 6 3 6
Umbrafer (11:23:57 PM): I'm down with that. hopefully we will be properly enmaged.
Dragcrell (11:24:01 PM): Dragcrell rolled 2 6-sided dice: 6 2
Dragcrell (11:24:12 PM): Dragcrell rolled 1 6-sided die: 5
MilesMk1 (11:24:25 PM): Multivariable calculus... It's not that hard, be should have been playing. :)
Dragcrell (11:25:14 PM): "ummmm guys that building is diffrent from when I last was here its unclean."
Umbrafer (11:25:34 PM): "Unclean?"
MilesMk1 (11:25:57 PM): "It didn't sound too good the last time you described it... It's worse now?"
Dragcrell (11:27:10 PM): *nods* "its feells oily spiritly here I...........I dont like it at all somthing bad happaned here/"
MilesMk1 (11:28:53 PM): "Is this more of that spike business you were talking about, only worse, or something else?"
Dragcrell (11:29:35 PM): "its getting there." *shackes* "what ever there doing in there is not good."
MilesMk1 (11:31:51 PM): "Well, why don't we just do the right thing, and call the law enforcement to report illegal magical activity? *grins* Say we sighted a wiz-gang in the area, or something."
Umbrafer (11:32:41 PM): "Could they trace it back to us? Trickster, remind me, were you doing anything illegal when they found you?"
MilesMk1 (11:32:56 PM): (And I'm only half-joking... Don't the cops have mages who should at least theoretically be interested in this sort of stuff?)
MilesMk1 (11:33:46 PM): "Well, we could always buy a disposeable phone or something, make a call from a mall, toss it in the trash, and walk outside to the car."
Dragcrell (11:33:54 PM): "no I just walked in like a lot of other peale did the bus stops not far from here"
Thematrian1 (11:33:56 PM): (Yes, yes the cops do)
Dragcrell (11:35:12 PM): *scraches ear with hand neverisly*
MilesMk1 (11:36:33 PM): "What do you think, Alex? I mean, no one is paying us to go in there - it's not like we kill rogue mages with funky auras as a community service..."
Umbrafer (11:36:34 PM): "I'm not really keen on bringing the cops in."
Umbrafer (11:36:49 PM): "Still, if it's the best way…"
Dragcrell (11:36:50 PM): "Ya the less chance of the cops finding us the better I woudl rather not be near them atualy"
MilesMk1 (11:38:28 PM): "Well, yes. But you don't want to go in there - which leaves me to, what, waltz into there and see if I can't find someone summoning spirits, and shoot them?"
MilesMk1 (11:38:48 PM): (waltz in there alone, rather)
Dragcrell (11:39:48 PM): *scraches ear* "mmmmmmmmm well ummmmmmmmmm
Thematrian1 (11:42:11 PM): Ok, looks like this are at a standstill for now. Shall we resume, with some action or lack of it, next week?
MilesMk1 (11:42:17 PM): (I think we should adjourn until we have a mage again, because right now, we're seriously limited in our options.)
MilesMk1 (11:42:22 PM): Right.
Dragcrell (11:42:44 PM): ok and good point >_> Tricks in a mighty bad stuation lol
Umbrafer (11:42:46 PM): *Nods*
MilesMk1 (11:43:23 PM): Ok... See some of you Thursday, some Tuesday, then. Jon, you be nice to Patrick Goodman. ;)
Umbrafer (11:43:30 PM): Hehehe
Umbrafer (11:43:32 PM): Maybe.
MilesMk1 (11:43:44 PM): (I could care less... Can't stand the guy, really.)
Dragcrell (11:43:47 PM): lol
MilesMk1 (11:43:52 PM): Goodnight.
Thematrian1 (11:44:11 PM): (Patrick Goodman?)
MilesMk1 (11:44:24 PM): A SR4 writer... person.
Thematrian1 (11:44:26 PM): (Oh, right)
Thematrian1 (11:44:32 PM): (Was trying to place him as an NPC)
Umbrafer (11:44:59 PM): Playtester. Made some truly idiotic comments today which I didn't bawl him out nearly enough for.
Thematrian1 (11:45:08 PM): (I don't have a char named that? Does Jon? We haven't met him yet, have we?)
Thematrian1 (11:45:11 PM): Link me?
Umbrafer (11:45:17 PM): I was, in my defense, trying not to get banned. *Dig*
Umbrafer (11:45:49 PM): http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=8466
Dragcrell (11:45:59 PM): (mmmmm think I well get my magic in the shadows book and read up on back gourn coutnt and such lol think I well be needing to know it well here soon
MilesMk1 (11:46:14 PM): Constantly posts supid stuff like "Don't complain about SR4, because you can't possible know what it'll be like since it's not finished yet - it'll be fine, really." with only a couple of months left
MilesMk1 (11:46:19 PM): before it goes to print
MilesMk1 (11:46:47 PM): possibly
Thematrian1 (11:47:28 PM): If they're selling their proofs at GenCon, it could work ;-)
Umbrafer (11:48:02 PM): Indeed. As well as "trust us" style stuff. Originally I just thought we had no reason to, but the mor they've made me think about it the more I realize that quite the opposite is true: we have significant reason to mistrust rules
Umbrafer (11:48:05 PM): written by these folks.
Dragcrell (11:48:41 PM): O_o mmm sounds like I better keep my 3rd rules nice and safe some place
Umbrafer (11:49:06 PM): I like some of the freelancers, but of the current people working on SR4 Adam Jury is probably the only person I'd trust with the system as far as I could throw
Umbrafer (11:49:20 PM): (And by all accounts he's one of the lightest of the batch)
Umbrafer (11:50:32 PM): For example, take Synner. He's a good guy, I like him. Nevertheless, he's responsible for a lot of both the WMI and the adept powers in SotA:2064. Good people do bad things.
MilesMk1 (11:50:43 PM): Huh. He just posted an apology thread.
MilesMk1 (11:51:11 PM): Not much of one, but an apology.
Dragcrell (11:51:33 PM): WMI???? sorry hard as hell getting the books here -_-
MilesMk1 (11:51:50 PM): Anyway... I have to run - it was good to see (almost) everyone again. Later.
Umbrafer (11:51:58 PM): *Waves* Take care.
Umbrafer (11:52:05 PM): WMI: Wireless Matrix Initiative.
Umbrafer (11:52:12 PM): 802.11Shadowrun
MilesMk1 has left the chat room.

Dragcrell (11:52:29 PM): ahhh ya I dont ahve any of the SotA books lol
Umbrafer (11:53:04 PM): Basically, SR4 is going to be big on wireless matrix access everywhere, which I think is an idea that is wholly inconsistent with canon history and practicality.
Thematrian1 (11:53:30 PM): The details haven't been printed yet
Thematrian1 (11:53:40 PM): But the odds are very much against anyone in SotSW ever having to worry about it
Dragcrell (11:53:43 PM): ya isnt the wireles laggy as hell and have a low data tranfer rate?
Umbrafer (11:54:14 PM): In Shadows of Europe it said that the tech was slated to start out with the same speed as an ordinary wired connection, and scale to the same speed as a high-speed wired hookup within a few years.
Umbrafer (11:54:27 PM): Under the current rules you can stream full-X simsense over a cellular link (the slowest wireless link in the book, IIRC). The only people who benefit from the increased bandwidth are deckers.
Dragcrell (11:56:09 PM): ah mmmm wounder what other cheages there going to make >_> I raghet like the fluid form SR has to its TN mimics RL situatins rather nicely acutlay
Umbrafer (11:56:44 PM): You heard the static TN then, I take it.
Umbrafer (11:57:14 PM): No pools, either, deckers are now hackers, Otaku are now technomancers, and supposedly deckers and riggers no longer have a distinction between them.
Dragcrell (11:57:15 PM): ya I read that far I've played game with them there not all that great in my appion
Dragcrell (11:58:06 PM): O_o the fuck deckers and riggers appreat on two diffretn bloody areas of the dame brain for crying out loud
Dragcrell (11:58:50 PM): Deckers on the frontal lobbe and logic prisessing areas and riggers teh morter controle
Umbrafer (11:59:11 PM): Yeah, well, Otaku used to fade too.
Umbrafer (11:59:22 PM): Now they don't. Hellooo, adult Otaku.
Dragcrell (12:00:24 AM): crap -_- there realy fucking up the stuff then what did they do the shifters maek em like all the other wareanimals >_<
Umbrafer (12:00:50 AM): No clue.
Dragcrell (12:02:00 AM): eash Otaku was one of the cooler adds besides the SS there whole set up was to do with how flexibgle the childs brain was and the fading was how they lost that felxtablity over time
Thematrian1 (12:02:34 AM): I didn't know that, neat
Umbrafer (12:03:00 AM): Ah, hadn't read the Fading rules recently?
Thematrian1 (12:03:18 AM): More like, hadn't read the Fading rules. But yeah.
Umbrafer (12:03:23 AM): Hehehe
Dragcrell (12:03:26 AM): hehehe ya they cover the Otaku well in the one Matrix book I have think it was the one they printed just befor fanpro go tthe rights
Dragcrell (12:03:42 AM): or just affter
Umbrafer (12:04:16 AM): They're part of the flavour of Otaku, IMO. Once an Otaku hits 21 or so they get a roll every year to see if they lose the Otaku equivalent of an initiate grade. Once they lose it all they're just ordinary deckers
Umbrafer (12:04:19 AM): If drek-hot deckers.
Umbrafer (12:04:33 AM): (Given that the Otaku starting Computers score must be between 6 and 8)
Dragcrell (12:05:13 AM): ya you make a Otaku and do it right you well end up with one hell of a decker even affer they fade there wicked
Thematrian1 (12:05:22 AM): Wait, they lose a grade once per year?
Umbrafer (12:05:33 AM): No, they get a roll for it.
Dragcrell (12:05:34 AM): can affer the age of 21
Thematrian1 (12:05:52 AM): So, during a given year they might not lose anything?
Dragcrell (12:06:02 AM): something like tirck and rolling if he takes up to Deadly dmg
Thematrian1 (12:06:05 AM): and the karma costs are similar?
Dragcrell (12:06:19 AM): mmm let me get my book realy fast
Umbrafer (12:06:38 AM): Karma costs for Submersion are identical to initiation, IIRC, but with nothing that can reduce the cost (no ordeals, for instance)
Thematrian1 (12:06:52 AM): Ah. so 18, 21, 24, ...?
Umbrafer (12:07:11 AM): After 21, they roll a number of dice equal to Submersion grade +1 against a TN equal to 5 + (age-21).
Thematrian1 (12:07:24 AM): And if they fail, they lose a grade?
Dragcrell (12:07:31 AM): yep
Thematrian1 (12:07:36 AM): Which they can later buy back via the normal rules?
Umbrafer (12:07:37 AM): If they fail they lose a submersion grade. If they've already lost all submersion grades, they become ordinary deckers.
Thematrian1 (12:07:48 AM): I think it could be fairly argued that Otaku already don't fade, if so.
Umbrafer (12:08:13 AM): "Lost submersion grades, echoes, and otaku abilities cannot be regained."
Umbrafer (12:08:28 AM): P146.
Thematrian1 (12:08:45 AM): ah. So once you've lost a grade you can't buy more grades?
Dragcrell (12:08:54 AM): yep its to reflecte the fact that atult brains are not as flexibel as a chileds brain
Dragcrell (12:11:41 AM): corse they also veiw the matrix much like a mage dose of the rw as they veiw it as being alive and conroled by the Deep resdence
Umbrafer (12:12:03 AM): Technoshamans and Cyberadepts.
Dragcrell (12:14:41 AM): ya I like how the did that each as there veiws as to how they work but all aggry abou the deep residence tho
Umbrafer (12:15:12 AM): Sorta. They agree to the degree that they agree that there's something, and that it has a certain effect.
Umbrafer (12:15:19 AM): The nature of that something is much disagreed-about.
Dragcrell (12:16:28 AM): ya the Shamans veiw it as a totam the Adepts as deeper under standing of how the progemas work corse there are teh AI crated ones
Umbrafer (12:17:12 AM): And the ones who were once Technoshamans or Cyberadepts who now believe that the AIs are or represent the Resonance.
Umbrafer (12:17:22 AM): Then there's Pax and the Dissonance, but that's another matter entirely
Dragcrell (12:17:41 AM): *nods* hehehehe ya to bad they scraped all that ; ;
Dragcrell (12:19:43 AM): I would do a Otatu but dealing withthe matrix is slow if the gm's not well versed in the rules
Thematrian1 (12:20:17 AM): some form of matrix support would have been handy lately
Dragcrell (12:20:47 AM): *shurges* mabe if Trick gets killed I well make one *shurges* I'm farly handy at the odd balls
Umbrafer (12:21:06 AM): Alex has the skills, she just doesn't have too much in the way of gear.
Dragcrell (12:22:10 AM): besides woudl be kinda fun to play as a 10 year old lol
Umbrafer (12:23:20 AM): Yeah, if you play up how utterly alien these kids are it can be awesome.
Dragcrell (12:24:31 AM): *thnks* I'll read up on em again and make up a mock up of one then might take me a few trys to get a decent one made but I can fine tune one as long as tricks alive
Umbrafer (12:24:55 AM): Sam notwithstanding, we try to keep our teammates alive.
Dragcrell (12:25:54 AM): *shuruges* ya but then Tricks a litral walking illigel attiveity hehehehe and to be shot on site by the cops if they find out what he is ;3
Umbrafer (12:26:09 AM): The entire city is about to become an illegal activity.
Dragcrell (12:26:34 AM): LOL ya tricks going to have a front row seat lol
Dragcrell (12:27:12 AM): well have fun and see ya next week :3

CirclMastr (8:58:39 PM): Hmmm
Umbrafer (8:58:43 PM): Hm?
CirclMastr (8:58:49 PM): We're missing a person or two.
Umbrafer (8:59:31 PM): At least one of them is just switching computers
CirclMastr (9:00:19 PM): Uh huh
Thematrian1 has entered the chat room.

CirclMastr (9:05:23 PM): There's someone
Umbrafer (9:05:42 PM): Yep
Thematrian1 (9:05:53 PM): get us some Glitch and we're good to go
Umbrafer (9:06:05 PM): Hopin' for just that.
Thematrian1 (9:08:14 PM): meanwhile, I guess I could answer some questions or something
CirclMastr (9:08:43 PM): What's the meaning of life?
Umbrafer (9:09:05 PM): Yeah, that'd work. Either that or discuss what mysterious fragmented messages and cheesecake have to do with each other.
Umbrafer (9:09:28 PM): By the by, I don't remember if you ever decided which option if any you were going to take for the image-analysis.
CirclMastr (9:09:51 PM): If anyone cares, according to my little sister and her boyfriend, Star Wars ep 3 is good.
Umbrafer (9:10:09 PM): It is. Though it has occasional moments of extreme lame.
Thematrian1 (9:10:34 PM): hm. Is it good enough to pay for, or should I be buying other tickets and wandering into the wrong theater?
Umbrafer (9:10:36 PM): And Padme's lines were probably entirely written by Lucas, which is to say that they're primary contributors of said lame.
Umbrafer (9:10:42 PM): Hm.
Umbrafer (9:10:52 PM): Tough one there.
Thematrian1 (9:11:15 PM): The question isn't "is it good", I guess, so much as "should things like this be encouraged"
Umbrafer (9:11:22 PM): I know.
Umbrafer (9:11:51 PM): It should definitely be encouraged over and above things like episodes 1 and 2, trying to figure out if it should be encouraged on its own.
Umbrafer (9:15:49 PM): I think I'd have to come down slightly on the side of "worth encouraging". In my opinion it definitely falls above a certain minimum standard.
CirclMastr (9:16:13 PM): That sounds about in line with my "I'll see a cheap matinee on Tuesday" plan.
Thematrian1 (9:16:18 PM): ::nod::
Umbrafer (9:16:18 PM): The optimum would be to find some way to encourage the movie but discourage George Lucas.
CirclMastr (9:16:25 PM): Gunfire!
CirclMastr (9:16:28 PM): Shadowrunners!
CirclMastr (9:16:30 PM): SR LARP!
Thematrian1 (9:16:33 PM): Circl took mine.
Thematrian1 (9:16:38 PM): Something Positive style.
CirclMastr (9:16:46 PM): *Shudder*
Thematrian1 (9:16:54 PM): well, ok, that's probably too much
CirclMastr (9:16:55 PM): You lose 3 karma for making me remember that.
Umbrafer (9:17:29 PM): I think 3 would have been a good or even very good movie if it weren't for Lucas having a hand in it. As it is, it's still solid.
Thematrian1 (9:17:51 PM): ouch
CirclMastr (9:18:02 PM): To summarize.
CirclMastr (9:18:07 PM): Lucas must die.
Umbrafer (9:18:16 PM): Everyone's favourite Mr. Binks appears twice for a combined total of about thirty seconds or less and has no lines, so someone kept him in check.
CirclMastr (9:18:32 PM): Whew
Thematrian1 (9:18:34 PM): but no Passion of the Jar-Jar?
Umbrafer (9:18:38 PM): Sadly not.
Umbrafer (9:19:03 PM): Though much as Jar-Jar suffering would be worth, it would not be worth him then becoming the central figure of a major religion.
Thematrian1 (9:19:09 PM): touche
CirclMastr (9:20:10 PM): So no wholesale extinction of gungans?
Umbrafer (9:20:37 PM): Sadly not. On the plus side, we see very few gungans period. I think Binks may be the only one.
Umbrafer (9:20:49 PM): No, he might have another with him at one point. Either way, under thirty seconds and no lines.
CirclMastr (9:21:43 PM): brb
Umbrafer (9:22:52 PM): The one major problem I have with the central theme of the movie is that Anakin's corruption should have taken at least eight times as long. Really, it should have been the primary focus of the second movie much more than it was
Umbrafer (9:22:58 PM): And even then it would be pushing it.
Thematrian1 (9:23:24 PM): they could have covered more time with the second, come to that.
Thematrian1 (9:23:48 PM): Or if he'd force-pushed whatshername into loving him, that would have accelerated the process.
Thematrian1 (9:23:56 PM): But no, they had to have true love...
Umbrafer (9:24:05 PM): The first and second movies probably should have been one movie, I think.
Umbrafer (9:24:14 PM): They still use her as the primary hook
Umbrafer (9:24:30 PM): And in a way that makes sense, if you increase the duration by an order of magnitude.
Umbrafer (9:24:34 PM): But they didn't.
Thematrian1 (9:25:10 PM): mmm. I don't think his fall has to take a long time, especially if he'd never risen very far to begin with.
Umbrafer (9:26:26 PM): He makes complete reversals in the span of minutes.
Umbrafer (9:26:40 PM): Hours in-character, audience-minutes.
Thematrian1 (9:26:45 PM): what're you thinking of, precisely. I don't remember 1 or 2 all that well
Umbrafer (9:26:59 PM): I mean in 3.
Thematrian1 (9:27:07 PM): oh
CirclMastr (9:29:45 PM): Back
Umbrafer (9:30:17 PM): Glitch, however, is not. Blargh.
CirclMastr (9:30:33 PM): The Padme/Anakin thing is a lot better in the original canon, if you ask me.
Umbrafer (9:30:39 PM): ?
Umbrafer (9:31:24 PM): Incidentally, I think Patrick Goodman has officially regained "Whiny Bitch" status.
CirclMastr (9:31:30 PM): IIRC, Anakin's falling for her but she's pushing him away because it's not proper or whatever. He ends up raping her before making his getaway, which results in Luke and Leia
Umbrafer (9:31:46 PM): I don't remember that. Where was that introduced?
CirclMastr (9:32:17 PM): The old novels, I think.
Umbrafer (9:32:36 PM): Which, though? Not in the novels for the original trilogy, I'm almost certain
Umbrafer (9:32:53 PM): I thought that conceptually it worked the way it is in the new trilogy. I've always had a fondness for the corruption of true love.
CirclMastr (9:33:26 PM): No, Lucas made a bunch of canon changes for the sake of marketing/Disney-fication.
CirclMastr (9:33:50 PM): There sure as fuck were no Gungans before the movie.
Thematrian1 (9:33:52 PM): well, I guess I can see why he'd want the rape left out. Though my idea isn't much more wholesome...
Umbrafer (9:34:23 PM): It's the same thing, just a different method
CirclMastr (9:34:44 PM): I've always thought unrequited love much more ripe for evil than taboo love.
CirclMastr (9:34:56 PM): No one thinks Romeo and Juliet are villains.
Umbrafer (9:36:01 PM): I think that, for Juliet at least, that's the happiest short-term ending the story could have had
Umbrafer (9:36:57 PM): It's not taboo love that I'm looking at, just plain old-fashioned requited and happy love being a conduit for "evil", as it were.
Umbrafer (9:37:19 PM): Actually, probably the best ending period
Umbrafer (9:37:30 PM): Considering what would have happened after her family found out.
CirclMastr (9:37:40 PM): So, I would like to comment on the state of books.
CirclMastr (9:38:01 PM): Around the library are various books, not seemingly in a series but along a common theme, "Science of..." books.
CirclMastr (9:38:14 PM): The Science of Star Wars, of Star Trek, of Harry Potter, of the X-Men...
CirclMastr (9:38:33 PM): And now, The Science of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
CirclMastr (9:38:41 PM): WTF does SCIENCE have to do with TGGttG?
CirclMastr (9:38:46 PM): *THGttG
Umbrafer (9:38:52 PM): Romeo's clearly a philanderer (or, in some cases, wannabe philanderer; note his obsession with Rosalind in the beginning, and the complete lack of anything to indicate that his love for Juliet will be more permanent)
Umbrafer (9:39:01 PM): It shows up here and there
CirclMastr (9:39:15 PM): Not in any serious attempt at verisimilitude.
Thematrian1 (9:39:26 PM): iambic pentameter is the surest sign of love there is. Unless you read plays other than romeo and juliet, but why?
Umbrafer (9:39:27 PM): And to its credit most of the disregarding is quite specific, deliberate, and knowing
Umbrafer (9:39:33 PM): Hehehe
CirclMastr (9:39:38 PM): (I just love when I can use six-syllable words in a conversation and people know what I'm saying)
Umbrafer (9:39:57 PM): (…People don't know what that means?)
CirclMastr (9:40:05 PM): (VERY few)
Thematrian1 (9:40:27 PM): (more among SF readers, I'd expect)
Thematrian1 (9:40:29 PM): (and hope)
CirclMastr (9:41:05 PM): I'd also like to point out the idiocy of discussing the science of the X-Men.
Umbrafer (9:41:29 PM): (It's not even a rare word like "brobdingnabian" or something)
Umbrafer (9:41:30 PM): Heh
Umbrafer (9:42:04 PM): Not necessarily total idiocy. Some people need it pointed out that this isn't how mutations work.
CirclMastr (9:43:26 PM): "Wolverine: If he were to be able to heal that quickly, he would need to consume three hundred thousand kilocalories per day to maintain his metabolism. Also, adamantium isn't real. I don't know why they
CirclMastr (9:43:34 PM): couldn't just say titanium or something. They're morons."
Thematrian1 (9:43:45 PM): 'cause titanium isn't especially strong
CirclMastr (9:43:56 PM): And adamantium is made-up.
Thematrian1 (9:44:00 PM): I mean, relative to its weight its awesome. But in absolute terms
Thematrian1 (9:44:09 PM): argh
Thematrian1 (9:44:10 PM): it's
Thematrian1 (9:44:12 PM): the second time
Umbrafer (9:44:23 PM): Titanium's quite strong for… yeah, you got it.
CirclMastr (9:44:36 PM): *points out that SR has titanium bone lacing, not adamantium*
Thematrian1 (9:44:46 PM): SR titanium bone lacing is also really dumb
Thematrian1 (9:44:53 PM): the whole concept of bone lacing is a bit off honestly
Umbrafer (9:44:56 PM): *Points out that SR bone lacing does very little of what Wolverine's does as well)
Umbrafer (9:44:57 PM): **
CirclMastr (9:45:04 PM): But at least they could take two seconds to come out up with a real material
Umbrafer (9:45:14 PM): Explicate? It's always been one of those bits that I've tried not to think about.
Thematrian1 (9:45:33 PM): that's just it, they can't. If they do, then they're bound to that material's properties, which won't be anywhere near ridiculous enough for their tastes
CirclMastr (9:45:59 PM): There's some biological reason for your bones to be porous. Bone lacing kinda fucks that up, I imagine.
Umbrafer (9:46:18 PM): That bit's covered by it being lacing rather than coating
Thematrian1 (9:46:33 PM): yeeeesssss, but why would said lacing actually help you any?
Umbrafer (9:46:43 PM): The bit about how bone lacing adds to your encumberance but iron lungs don't is definitely off.
CirclMastr (9:46:51 PM): Where do you think they put the 'lacing'? Either there or they crack every bone in your body and fill it in with titanium.
Umbrafer (9:47:09 PM): By making it harder to break your bones, and potentially by making them heavier. Mostly the first, though I agree that that doesn't do what they want it to do.
Thematrian1 (9:48:02 PM): but why would lacing your bones with strong stuff make them harder to break, even? You'd need to reinforce the connections, and even then there are limits
Umbrafer (9:48:58 PM): Connections? You'd be vulnerable to joint dislocation, certainly, but it'd seem to add resiliency to any bone breaking other than chipping. Am I missing something there?
CirclMastr (9:54:52 PM): So... no Glitch then.
Umbrafer (9:55:02 PM): Apparently not. Which saddens me.
Thematrian1 (9:55:12 PM): ::gets on the bus to frown town::
CirclMastr (9:55:21 PM): Well, could always ask Mr. Matrian for his opinion of my poor shaman.
Umbrafer (9:55:31 PM): You're in luck, there's an express.
Thematrian1 (9:55:38 PM): poor shaman?
CirclMastr (9:56:09 PM): Did you see that thread by AH about Galatea ally spirits?
Thematrian1 (9:56:12 PM): (and for your information, the first syllable is 'them', pronounced very heavily. I was nine when I made up this name, sosume)
Thematrian1 (9:56:15 PM): uh...no
Thematrian1 (9:56:18 PM): what's a Galatea?
CirclMastr (9:56:32 PM): Galatea is a figure of Greek mythology.
CirclMastr (9:56:47 PM): But it's been fucked with so many times I can't remember how the original version goes.
Thematrian1 (9:56:50 PM): hm, which? I can't place her.
Thematrian1 (9:56:51 PM): ah
CirclMastr (9:57:09 PM): Artist makes statue of perfect woman, goddess brings statue to life, some sort of tragedy ensues.
Thematrian1 (9:57:22 PM): ahhhh, that one
Umbrafer (9:57:40 PM): (Ah, I always assumed it was pronounced like the first syllable of "thespian". So't goes.)
CirclMastr (9:58:05 PM): Basically, it's an ally spirit formula that makes an ally who thinks of the summoner as the center of the universe.
Thematrian1 (9:58:20 PM): The sculptor was Pygmalion, right?
Thematrian1 (9:58:23 PM): ahh
Umbrafer (9:58:26 PM): Yep
Umbrafer (9:58:40 PM): Wait, I think so
CirclMastr (9:58:44 PM): The ally will do anything to help out the summoner, but thinks it can do it more easily by not being bound to obey orders from the summoner, who tends to do dangerous things.
Umbrafer (9:58:55 PM): I'm pretty sure, but I remember at least one other statues-comes-to-life myth.
CirclMastr (9:59:00 PM): So it will always try to break free when it can.
CirclMastr (9:59:46 PM): The character in question being a conjurer shamanist, with severe Gremlins. Who is in more dire need of a protector?
Thematrian1 (10:00:12 PM): conjurer shamanist? How does that work exactly?
Thematrian1 (10:00:24 PM): I mean, you know I'm full of love for the conjurer, but...
CirclMastr (10:00:41 PM): A conjurer who gets shaman bonuses and penalties according to totem (or Idol in this particular case)
Thematrian1 (10:00:59 PM): errr...wouldn't a shaman conjurer get those bonuses anyway?
CirclMastr (10:01:25 PM): Let me go at a different angle. A shaman who can't cast spells.
Thematrian1 (10:01:37 PM): ah, sorry
Umbrafer (10:01:40 PM): Indeed. Strictly speaking a Shamanist would be able to both summon spirits and cast spells, but only from their totem-loved catagories.
Umbrafer (10:01:47 PM): That'd just be a shamanic conjurer
Thematrian1 (10:01:59 PM): so a shamanist conjurer...would be a priority C mage who can only summon one kind of spirit
Thematrian1 (10:02:01 PM): sucks to be him
CirclMastr (10:02:15 PM): Heh, if only.
CirclMastr (10:02:20 PM): brb, dinner
Umbrafer (10:02:21 PM): Not really. He gets Watchers and Enchanting too.
Thematrian1 (10:02:48 PM): ooh, Enchanting
Thematrian1 (10:02:52 PM): Watchers are cool, I admit
Umbrafer (10:03:13 PM): They are cool. If stupid.
Umbrafer (10:06:14 PM): Don't suppose you've ever played any of the Silent Hill games?
Thematrian1 (10:06:58 PM): nay
Umbrafer (10:10:17 PM): They really are quite excellently done, all things considered. Heavily story-driven and puzzle-based, so on and so forth. Vaguely similar in presentation to Resident Evil
Umbrafer (10:10:28 PM): Though with the military folk swapped out for ordinary and confused civilians
Umbrafer (10:10:45 PM): And ancient gods in place of monolithic corporations
Thematrian1 (10:11:02 PM): ooh
Thematrian1 (10:11:12 PM): probably you need some sort of game system to play them though?
Umbrafer (10:12:05 PM): I believe Silent Hill 2 (the best of them, in my opinion) had a computer release. The others are primarily Playstation 2 releases (the original was an original Playstation game and the second was also released for the XBox)
Umbrafer (10:12:44 PM): The only problem with the games is that they lose a goodly part of their effect if played in the daytime, with lights on in the area, or with other people in the room.
Umbrafer (10:12:57 PM): That and the camera controls can be annoying at times.
Thematrian1 (10:17:10 PM): ::nod::
CirclMastr has left the chat room.

Thematrian1 (10:28:42 PM): So, the last time Gem wore a costume for fun, it involved a big skull-and-crossbones hat and a hook hand. It was a very fancy masquerade ball, and it tickled her.
Umbrafer (10:29:03 PM): Hehehe
Thematrian1 (10:29:26 PM): In fact, companies she'd stolen from might have had representatives there.
Umbrafer (10:29:58 PM): If you work in the business long enough, that becomes the rule rather than the exception.
Thematrian1 (10:30:04 PM): heh
Thematrian1 (10:30:20 PM): if you work in the business long enough, you stop getting invited to those parties :-(
Umbrafer (10:30:36 PM): Also true. Though you start inviting yourself more and more often.
Thematrian1 (10:30:53 PM): yeah, but with the armed guards and so forth, it stops being fun exactly
Thematrian1 (10:31:08 PM): she's done costume ball type things a couple of times, but that was the only costume she picked because it amused her
Umbrafer (10:31:15 PM): Depends what you're there for and how good you are.
Umbrafer (10:31:21 PM): I can't possibly imagine why it might ;)
Thematrian1 (10:32:09 PM): yeah, it's one of life's great mysteries
Thematrian1 (10:50:59 PM): Worst thing she's ever done: leave a crewman to drown. She had no other play, it was that or get everyone killed, but she could have tried.
Umbrafer (10:52:00 PM): You know, Gem would have made a good T'skrang.
Thematrian1 (10:52:06 PM): T'skrang?
Umbrafer (10:52:28 PM): Lizardfolk from Earthdawn. Sailors, primarily.
Thematrian1 (10:53:54 PM): Under what circumstances, if any, would Gem betray a friend? Well, same circumstance really. When there are a half dozen drones overhead and all your spirits are busy and the sniper's unconscious and the only advantage you have is
Thematrian1 (10:53:59 PM): the ability to outrun them via Movement...
Thematrian1 (11:02:34 PM): er...I don't remember the others ::whimper::
Umbrafer (11:02:50 PM): Give me a second to snag the list
Thematrian1 (11:03:09 PM): heh, this is the third time I've made you read it out. Sorry about that.
Umbrafer (11:03:10 PM): For now, the ones I remember:
Umbrafer (11:03:15 PM): What is your favourite colour?
Umbrafer (11:03:27 PM): Under what circumstances would you sacrifice your life?
Umbrafer (11:03:35 PM): What's the best thing you've ever done?
Umbrafer (11:03:49 PM): What's your favourite number?
Thematrian1 (11:03:53 PM): Favorite color (note the debritified spellings ;-)): light green
Umbrafer (11:04:11 PM): What character in literature or myth do you identify with?
Umbrafer (11:04:40 PM): That last one may also include a clause to allow historical figures, give me a minute to find my list.
Umbrafer (11:04:55 PM): (Someday I'll remember how I word things)
Thematrian1 (11:10:33 PM): Favorite number: 9
Umbrafer (11:12:00 PM): Under what circumstances, if any, would you sacrifice your life?
Umbrafer (11:12:02 PM): What's the best thing you've ever done?
Umbrafer (11:12:07 PM): What great figure from mythology, literature, or the media do you identify with?
Umbrafer (11:12:28 PM): What manner of dying do you fear most?
Umbrafer (11:13:18 PM): I think that's all the unanswereds.
Thematrian1 (11:13:26 PM): cool
Thematrian1 (11:13:32 PM): Feared form of death: starvation
Umbrafer (11:32:09 PM): Is that more or less feared than an eternity of soybread and 98% vegetable oil spread?
Thematrian1 (11:32:38 PM): Hey, things aren't that bad
Umbrafer (11:33:29 PM): Besides, she'd probably burn some karma on Create Food before it came to that.
Thematrian1 (11:33:38 PM): she'd like to
Thematrian1 (11:33:52 PM): I guess she could bind a free spirit with a specialized form of Wealth
Umbrafer (11:33:56 PM): Which is another of those things that I just try not to think about.
Umbrafer (11:34:09 PM): Well, Create Food mostly. Wealth counts as well, I suppose.
Thematrian1 (11:34:12 PM): yeah, I was pretty unhappy when I saw that in MitS
Thematrian1 (11:34:18 PM): true, but Gem can't cast spells
Thematrian1 (11:34:19 PM): so...
Umbrafer (11:34:22 PM): That's true
Umbrafer (11:34:29 PM): I keep forgetting that
Thematrian1 (11:34:52 PM): yeah. She'd be objectively stronger if I'd shed three attribute points and made her a full mage
Umbrafer (11:34:57 PM): Why, I'm not quite sure; you'd think that when she goes the entire game without casting a spell it'd be a tipoff.
Thematrian1 (11:35:04 PM): but I was trying to build an awesome conjurer, so...::shrug::
Umbrafer (11:35:26 PM): Hey, it's cooler this way. Even if it does mean soybread and fake butter.
Umbrafer (11:35:39 PM): (If it might mean, rather)
Thematrian1 (11:35:40 PM): but yes, Create Food is an abomination unto me
Umbrafer (11:36:10 PM): Indeed.
Thematrian1 (11:36:30 PM): Nutrition too, Fast is ok.
Umbrafer (11:36:51 PM): I can see how Nutrition raises the same problems, but it doesn't bother me as much.
Thematrian1 (11:36:54 PM): I have a file full of 500Y shamen who have Create Food 1 and no place to live
Thematrian1 (11:37:01 PM): well, it's more Nutrition + Fast
Thematrian1 (11:37:09 PM): hunger pangs get nasty after a while I suppose
Umbrafer (11:37:18 PM): Yeah, that does get broken. But Nutrition makes such a great torture spell.
Thematrian1 (11:37:25 PM): :-(
Umbrafer (11:38:08 PM): Keep in mind that those ¥500 need a place to sleep, though.
Umbrafer (11:38:17 PM): Unless I'm missing something.
Umbrafer (11:38:38 PM): "My box out back" only works until you get wounded.
Thematrian1 (11:38:45 PM): Heal
Thematrian1 (11:39:01 PM): And the plan was to summon spirit bodyguards before bed IIRC
Umbrafer (11:39:32 PM): Then it takes bad wounds, but they're still possible; even with six points of Essence, the TN is still 7 to Heal with an S wound.
Thematrian1 (11:40:14 PM): yeah, I was thinking more like an M, which you can reasonably expect to heal down to an L
Thematrian1 (11:40:25 PM): An S can get to M, then you're in trouble
Thematrian1 (11:40:26 PM): question though
Umbrafer (11:40:31 PM): Fire away
Thematrian1 (11:40:32 PM): what if you take, say, 2 Ms?
Thematrian1 (11:40:36 PM): can you Heal twice?
Umbrafer (11:40:50 PM): That's one of those canon-vague questions.
Umbrafer (11:41:10 PM): I believe it's clear that if you take two Ms and then Heal, you can't do it again
Thematrian1 (11:41:16 PM): ah
Thematrian1 (11:41:23 PM): but if you take an M, heal, take an M...
Umbrafer (11:41:26 PM): But if you take an M, heal one box, then take another M and heal four boxes…
Umbrafer (11:41:36 PM): That's where it gets messy.
Thematrian1 (11:41:38 PM): I think if I were to go that route I'd limit it to three points of healing
Thematrian1 (11:41:47 PM): (for an M, I mean)
Umbrafer (11:41:57 PM): My personal ruling is… yeah, any damage that was present during a previous Heal attempt cannot be removed.
Umbrafer (11:42:07 PM): I'd allow you to take an M, take an M, and then heal six boxes
Umbrafer (11:42:18 PM): But not take an M, heal one box, take an M, and then heal five.
Umbrafer (11:42:22 PM): If you follow the logic.
Thematrian1 (11:42:45 PM): yeah
Thematrian1 (11:42:58 PM): basically, whenever you Heal, any boxes left over are locked in and can't be healed
Thematrian1 (11:43:03 PM): new boxes are unlocked, and safe
Umbrafer (11:43:06 PM): .*Nods*
Thematrian1 (11:43:18 PM): balances complexity with realism. Works for me.
Umbrafer (11:43:20 PM): And the locked boxes are locked from First Aid as well
Umbrafer (11:43:29 PM): For example, take an S, heal one box, take an L
Umbrafer (11:44:02 PM): Then you're at S total, but using First Aid only gets you down to five boxes instead of managing to get it to M where you would not have been able to drop it below 5 before taking damage.
Thematrian1 (11:44:23 PM): mmm. Then it's generally preferably to FA S wounds. I guess that's a feature
Umbrafer (11:45:10 PM): Magic remains the only thing that can drop a D save hospital time and regen.
Thematrian1 (11:45:28 PM): well, not on yourself. But yeah
Umbrafer (11:45:45 PM): Technically you can try
Umbrafer (11:45:48 PM): Well
Umbrafer (11:45:51 PM): I don't remember
Thematrian1 (11:45:58 PM): I thought you were automatically out of it at D?
Umbrafer (11:46:11 PM): There are rules for maintaining consciousness past D with nasty mods and high-TN Willpower checks
Thematrian1 (11:46:21 PM): ah
Umbrafer (11:46:32 PM): But IIRC it's only useful for mumbling things and moving slightly for Physical
Umbrafer (11:46:57 PM): Stun you can keep on truckin', but at +4 TN plus any Physical mods and aforementioned Willpower test fairly frequently.
Thematrian1 (11:47:18 PM): eesh
Umbrafer (11:47:21 PM): This is from memory from quite some time ago, so the details may be wrong, but the rules are present in Man and Machine, IIRC.
Thematrian1 (11:48:09 PM): (that's messed up, by the way. Why on earth would those rules be there?)
Umbrafer (11:48:31 PM): Because the advanced healing/damage/surgery rules are all there
Thematrian1 (11:48:45 PM): (but...but...)
Umbrafer (11:48:53 PM): It makes sense to me at least, which is more than can be said about the BTL rules being in Cannon Companion. What's your objection?
